You want to explore polyamory but don’t know if it’s right for you.
Learn to
take initiative.
Connecting deeply and opening yourself to love can be a beautiful thing, but managing the level of vulnerability and fear that can come with it is no small task. Few things are more painful than experiencing heartache.
Perhaps you’ve noticed a particular pattern that you’ve been stuck in – you start out confident, but when the relationship gets rocky you begin to fall apart. Or maybe it’s the opposite – you flee as soon as things get serious, finding it easier to avoid connection to evade getting hurt.
These are only a sample of the ways in which relationship issues can surface for you, and the key is knowing how to navigate them when they arise. Too often we resort to the less effective method of distraction to ease the pain – we scroll social media, turn to vices, or just rebound with someone new. But there are other options.
Looking for support for you and your partner together? I do that too.
How I help.
Relationships are mirrors that reflect different aspects of ourselves back at us. Sometimes we like what we see, other times we do not. But if we’re able to gain understanding about our emotional reactions in those moments, we can use them to bring about positive and lasting change.
Many of the patterns that arise in our relationships stem from earlier life experiences. The environment we grew up in, prior relationships, and our general self-confidence can all impact how we show up with our partners, as well as how they show up with us.
Perhaps you have a tendency to be distant, or get too close. Neglecting your own needs for the sake of the relationship can have consequences and can leave you feeling depleted or resentful.
In relationship therapy, I’ll help you unpack what arises for you when it comes to relationships and love. We’ll explore any beliefs or behaviors that may not be serving you, and work to put you back in the driver’s seat. My style is gentle, compassionate, and trauma-informed, and I look forward to connecting with you soon.
